Dec 8th 2008, well I can not believe 2008 is almost over.
Mercedes is huge in foal with about 83 days to go. Love her foals and am excited to meet her foal
Cassie is next to be due with about 87 days to go. In 2007 Cassie foal shortly after another mare gave birth. Her foals markings are alway fun to see.
My New mare Khamira Moniet is due in March/April I am told. Have not been given her breeding dates yet. She is sweet mare.
Dalla's and Sheik still have along ways to go. Both are showing their bellys, but not huge yet.

Less then two months until our first two 2009 foals are due!!!! Mercedes is huge. I think every time she is in foal close to the end she is bigger every time. Is moody to day. Was petting her She turned her head to where hand was and put her ears right back. So stopped petting her. She is also slowing down on her hay in take and not hanging with group any more. Also seems to be standing by barn all the time. Did nail/string test on her today and it says colt.
Cassie is doing great. She stands by feeder most of the time. Khamira and her are great friends and like to eat from one feeder by them selves. I think Cassie may hold off until later March to foal. As in 2007 she held off until couple hours after another mare foaled and she was due a lot sooner then that mare. Being that she is so close to Khamira I could see her foaling closer to when she does, we'll just have to wait and see. Did nail/string test on her today and it says filly.

Jan 22/09 Mercedes is very big. And also moody to other mares. Think I will be putting her by her self very soon. Seeing her bag between back legs and from her side. She is about 297 days today.

Jan 24th/09 afternoon
Well Mercedes bag I check out as you could really see it from her side when walking up to her. Left nipple has white milk drop hanging off of it. So am going to watch her little closer and barn her for sure tonight. I have had couple mares do this long time before foaling, but first time with Mercedes. She is about 299 days along.
Jan 24th/09 night
Barned Mercedes due to fact she was dripping white milk from both sides. When I checked on her at 11:30pm she was still dripping milk, as well as rubbing her bum a lot.

Jan 27th morning
Mercedes is about 302 days along. back legs covered in milk from drips. One side only last night, but both this morning. Did talk to my vet who is NOT worried. Just says to continue barning her and watching her close. We do have her on some HOMEOPATHICS we our selves use all the time.
Counting it out if she got in foal very first day in with Coppersin she could foal as soon as Feb 24th.

Jan 31/09
Mercedes had a beautiful Chestnut and white colt some time last night. Sad to say he was born dead. He was small. We are keeping close eye on her today, for two reason 1 because she lost her foal and two is the fact that her belly is still huge and does not have the look of belly of mare that just gave birth. That is right we are wondering if there is another baby in there.
As we told our selves we are lucky as this is only second time we have lost a foal since we started breeding.

So because Cassie is not as huge as she has been in past decided to order foalproof test. Did test this morning and it says in foal. So just not as big this time around I guess. Nothing going on with her bag yet.
Mercedes continues to look in foal, so still question if there is another foal in there. Have learned a lot about twins in the last 7 days. Mares have been known to loose a twin before due date and then give birth to another one around their due time. So we are barning her at night and watching for changes. If the foal she lost 7 days a go was only one, then I believe she should come into foal heat soon.

Feb 12/09:
Cassie just starting to bag at about 314 days along. Her bag is always interesting to watch as it grows, as it does so different than any other mare I have owned.
Mercedes still has not come into foal heat. So the question is still out there is there another foal in there. If so she is about 318 days a long.

Cassies bag is starting to show more. More so on one side. Have feeling she will go well over her due date
Mercedes still no signs of heat since loosing her foal Jan 31. She is still being barned at night just in case there is a second one in there.

Ok so am not posting much. Just been bad start to year so am not into foaling season for some reason this year.
Any how up date
I NO longer believe Mercedes has second one in there. As no major changes with her and by now her bag would be very good size. But still know foal heat and we are coming up on four weeks from when she gave birth to dead colt.
Cassie bag is about what it is norm for her at this time every time in foal and close to do date. I have feeling she may just hold out until Khamira foals. Since that is what she did in 2007 with mare Vicki. I will start to watch her around her due date, but do not feel the need to at all right now.

March 6th/09
No signs of foaling being close. Now at about 336 days in foal.
Our weather has turned cold again and lots of snow yesterday and more to come they say. Also slipped and hit my back mid week on outside steps. So kind of wanting her to hold off until back is feeling better.

March 9th/09
Cassie's bag full. Nothing on nipples when I checked her through out day. Due to snow and very cold temps barned her most of day. Let her out side for few hours in afternoon.
Cassie, Khamira and Dalla's foals sure are moving around a lot. Saw each of their bellys moving through out weekend. Always something nice and interesting to watch.
